Ministry often leads us into moments of quiet compassion, where words are few, but prayers are deep.
Today was one of those moments.
Last week, Jamal was released from the hospital. We had hoped he would be able to recover at House of Victory. Sadly, his condition did not allow it. On Thursday, he had to return to the hospital.
His body is weak. The doctors say he suffers from hernia and symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. But deeper than the medical terms is the human story, one of pain, of longing, and of hope.
This morning, Jamal called me. “Please come. Please pray with me,” he asked.
I went to see him. I brought a simple gift—a pizza. He doesn’t like the hospital food. But more than that, he needed someone to sit with him.
We talked. Jamal is searching for more than physical healing. He is hungry for peace in his soul. He loves Jesus. He asks many questions about God, about salvation, about forgiveness. As we prayed together, he cried. There was a deep longing in him, a cry for healing and for new life.
I left that room moved and reminded of why I do this ministry, not for the crowds, but for the ones, the moments, the prayers whispered beside a hospital bed.
